February, 2013 – Pilot Program Shifts

0

Centralized Intake, a pilot program that has been in operation for the past ten months is undergoing a reevaluation by Wake County and the area agencies that have been participating in the community-wide initiative. The concept of having one place to go for all individuals and families seeking shelter is the ultimate goal for Centralized Intake as well as a Federal mandate. From the outset it was recognized that the biggest challenge of bringing together 11 social service agencies would be developing a uniform system of intake and then referral out to those agencies. Data from the 10-month pilot will be used to find areas for improvement as well as to develop new procedures that will increase the efficiency of a centralized call center.
