National Playground Awarded
WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE that PLM Families Together has been awarded a “Playground Build” by national non-profit “KaBOOM!” KaBOOM! partners with corporate funders to create great play spaces through the participation and leadership of local communities. The funding partner for this project is The CarMax Foundation, and the children and parents in our program will help design the playground.
MORE THAN JUST A PLACE TO PLAY
This much-needed addition will be located between our Short-term apartments. As you can see from the picture on the left, we’re in dire need of a safe place for children to be outside where they can release energy and stress as well as nurture their brains and bodies. And a welcoming outdoor gathering space will give the families in our apartments a healthy place to come together and support each other as a more connected community.
YOU’RE INVITED TO BE PART OF THIS SPECIAL PROJECT
We need $15,000 to make this happen. The CarMax Foundation pays for the playground itself and provides just over half the needed volunteers, and KaBOOM! provides project management and guidance. PLM Families together is responsible for a donation match of $8,500 + all the prep expenses (soil testing, tree removal, site grading, permits, new shed, etc.).
We’re also recruiting ~100 volunteers for the big “Build Day” on October 29th! This is a wonderful opportunity and we are grateful for this honor. Our hope is that all our supporters will step up and help us make this a great experience that promises to have long-term impact.
